These homemade cheeseburgers are something my mom made on a regular basis. They are really easy to make, taste delicious, and can be prepped, frozen and saved for a later BBQ day!
All you will need for these homemade cheeseburgers are ground beef, diced onions, garlic powder, steak sauce, cheese, and of course some buns.
Making the burger patties
Making the burgers are very easy. All you need to do is add the raw beef, steak sauce, onions, and garlic powder to a large mixing bowl.
Next, just kneed everything together making sure the sauce, onions, and garlic powder are evenly and well incorporated into the meat. It is a messy, and cold process.
Once everything is mixed with the meat you will form your burgers. You can do this in a number of ways. You can eyeball a half pound patty, you can use a burger former, or you can weigh it out on a scale. Since you added extra ingredients to the meat it will weight roughly 8.25oz. I used a burger former.
Cooking the burger
Heat up a non-stick skillet, or your grill, and place the burger on the heated surface. If you use a non-stick skillet add a little olive oil to prevent burning and sticking.
If you are using a skillet, I like to smash the burger a little bit. It helps cook the burger quicker. Cooking time will vary based on how you like your burgers. I like mine medium well so I cooked them about 7 minutes per side, but it may be less based on what you like. Once the burger is close to done add your cheese so it has time to melt. Take the burger off the heat and let it rest for 3 minutes.
Easy Homemade Cheeseburger
- 2 lbs Ground beef I used 96/4 lean ground beef
- 1/2 cup Onion diced
- 1 tbsp Garlic powder
- 1/4 cup Steak sauce
- 4 slices American cheese
In a larger mixing bowl add your ground beef, diced onion, garlic powder, and steak sauce. Mix everything together into the meat.
Press out your burgers into 4, 1/2 pound patties.
Heat up a skillet with some olive oil. Place the patty in the heated skillet for about 3 minutes per side depending on how you like your burger done. Once it is close to done, add your cheese to start melting it.
Once the cheese is melted somewhat melted, pull the burger off the skillet and top with whatever toppings you'd like and ENJOY!
And that is it! Top it with whatever toppings your heart desires. I am very simple so I just used pickles and some BBQ sauce. Leave your comments and questions below!
